A stitch in time
These are my first attempts at this but I think they are turning out well. Harvest is the one I started with. Then I got ideas for making them like pocket shrines only a little bigger. I plan on putting Hecate's box on my altar or using it as a focal point for my bedroom altar once the room swap is complete.

This is the Harvest box. I am thinking of giving it to Kit when it is finsihed. She said she was really drawn to it.

I used one coat of sealer then one coat of light green acrylic paint because it is what Pete chose. I decided I wanted a darker green because the pieces I was going to glue on didn't really pop. So I covered that with two coats of forest green acrylic paint.

Once that had dried completely I cut off the backs of the scrapbooking button things and used a xacto knife to make sure they were level. Then I glued the two piece buttons together then on to the top of the box in the patterns I had decided ahead of time. I was thinking of adding some branches and flowers to the sides but now I am not so sure I want to. I am considering stenciling some leaves on though. I don't really consider it complete yet.

I painted these boxes at the same time. I think I got tired of waiting for one to dry. Doing two allowed me to to continue working when one was drying.

I chose this box because I liked the recessed top. I knew I had keys and a pentacle for the top them went looking through my stash for other things that felt right to me. For the top I chose three different colored keys, one of the pentacles Brian made for me oh so long ago, a maple leaf cradling a pearl and a silver feather.

Inside the lid of the box is a charm I cut the loop off of which has a danglely on it. I never could find a piece of jewelry that it fit with but I like it here. Then there is a piece of tiger's eye in the right corner and four silver filigree beads in the left corner.

In the bottom of the box are two silver feathers, good things come in threes you know. There is also tow groupings of semiprecious stones. They are beads actually but here they will not be strung. Lets see if I can remember them all. On the right is a creamy Moonstone. I plan for there to be more, maybe. On the left bottom felt to right is turquoise {For water and fluid movement}, carnelian {For the Goddess's firey side and guiding light}, Moss agate {earth and growing things}, agate {For grounding}, and labradorite {For hidden treasures}. On top of those from felt to right are Rose quartz {For love and compassion} and clear quartz {For clarity}. There is also a snake, which used to be a charm as well, that represents knowledge and the shedding of ones skin.

There are plans for a crescent moon charm to be screwed into the inside of the lid but I have not gotten that far yet.

Your boxes are wonderful and remind me of little portable altars. @:) I really love that idea. I am looking to have something for myself for when I travel. This is a very nice idea hun. @:)

Thank you! =D I plan on doing more on this scale and the smaller pocket shrines that are made in Altoide and other mint containers. I hope they will be soon to follow.

I love those. And of course I am clueless about their significance and stuff, but it looks like a great idea. Very nice work!

Thank you! =)

The fist one is basically a trinket box with higher aspirations and the second is like an offering shrine. Not sure if that helped any...
